A recipe for homemade cat treats

We’ve shared a recipe for homemade dog biscuits, it’s about time we shared one for cats too! Making homemade cat treats is a great activity to do with kids, plus you know exactly what’s going into them, it’s easier on the wallet too! But, the best part is, this recipe has only three ingredients.

Make your own cat treats!

  • 2 142g cans of salmon (don’t drain)

  • 1 egg, beaten

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour

  • ¾ inch cookie cutter in the shape of your choice

  1. Preheat oven to 350º F

  2. Pulse the salmon and liquid in a food processor until it’s chopped as finely as possible.

  3. In a stand mixer, combine salmon, 1 egg and the whole wheat flour until a dough forms. If you find the dough really dry, add up to 1/3 cup water. If it’s too wet or sticky, add a bit more four. The dough should be tacky but not sticky.

  4. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to ¼ inch thick. Using a small cookie cutter, create your treats.

  5. Place the treats on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake at 350º F for about 20 minutes. They’re done when they’re slightly browned and crunchy.

  6. Store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks or pop in the freezer for longer.
