2019
We’ve been in the pet insurance business for 30 years, and protected over 1.3 million pets.
2017
We were acquired by Economical and our name was changed to Petline Insurance Company.
2015
We had our 1 millionth customer! The policy was for an autism service dog in British Columbia.
2013
Our office moved from downtown to the Polo Park area of Winnipeg, MB. We now had space for 150 employees
2010
Our name was changed to Western Financial Insurance Company.
2009
Western Financial Group purchased Hayhurst Elias Dudek, Inc., and Securican along with it.
2008
The Petsecure brand was launched and the Petplan name was phased out. At this time, we had about 50,000 policies.
2004
We begin to underwrite our policies in-house under a new name, SecuriCan. We became a federally licensed property and casualty insurance company in the spring and were licensed to do business across Canada.
2000
Our head office moved to Winnipeg, MB. We started with two claims adjusters, five sales and service reps, a claims manager and a few field representatives. We had 11,000 policies.
1992
Hayhurst Elias Dudek Inc. purchased Petplan. Our small office was located in Mississauga, ON.
1989
The Petplan name is licensed by Aon Reed Stenhouse in Canada from the UK based, Pet Plan Limited.
