A HELPING PAW FOR ARF

Petsecure Territory Manager Jennifer Dooley presents a cheque to Troy Chadwick of ARF

Petsecure Territory Manager Jennifer Dooley presents a cheque to Troy Chadwick of ARF.
They’re joined by a week-old litter of puppies!

Petsecure Territory Manager Jennifer Dooley (AB, SK) recently visited Troy Chadwick, director of Animal Rescue Foundation of Alberta (ARF) and presented him with a $250 cheque. This cheque is for our 2017 sponsorship of Animal Rescue Foundation’s seventh annual Walk n’ Wag, which takes place on Sept. 24.  It’s a 2 km, fun-filled family fundraiser held at River Park in Calgary.

Petsecure has been a proud partner with ARF for almost 18 months. ARF’s mission is to rescue stray and unwanted dogs and cats from First Nations communities and rural areas and place them in loving, permanent homes while providing programs to reduce pet overpopulation.

Rather than operating a permanent shelter, ARF houses all rescued animals with foster parents. According to their website (arf.ab.ca):

“By providing food and medical care in these temporary homes, we are able to take the time to find the right match between our dogs and cats and their prospective adoptive families.”

ARF provides care, stability, medical assistance and lifelong homes for our rescue animals. Since animals have little ability to choose their owners, we must act in their best interests. Some of the ways we do this are by:

  • Placing animals for adoption in loving, caring, stable and lifelong homes

  • Arranging temporary foster homes,  including providing medical interventions to animals in need of serious medical care

  • Vaccinating, de-worming, and spaying/neutering animals prior to adoption

  • Providing spay/neuter and educational programs to residents of First Nations communities

Practicing and promoting reward-based training techniques for dogs
