Make a cake for your dog!

Ingredients:

Cake

  • 1 cup flour

  • ½ tsp baking soda

  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

  • ¼ cup peanut butter

  • ½ cup applesauce

  • ½ cup pumpkin puree

  • 1 egg

Frosting

  • ½ cup plain Greek yogurt

  • ¼ cup peanut butter

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350º F

  2. In a large bowl, combine flour and baking soda.

  3. In a separate bowl, mix together vegetable oil, peanut butter, applesauce and pumpkin puree. Once mixed, add egg and until combined.

  4. Mix together wet and dry ingredients until combined.

  5. Pour mixture into a well-greased 8” round cake pan.

  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes.

  7. Allow cake to cool on a wire rack. Set aside.

  8. While cake cools, make frosting by whipping Greek yogurt and peanut butter together.

  9. When cake is cool, frost and serve. If not serving immediately, store in refrigerator.

Things to consider when making homemade pet treats

Keep in mind, if your pet has any allergies or sensitivities to certain ingredients, find a substitute or omit those ingredients. For example, if yogurt doesn’t always agree with your dog’s stomach, leave the frosting out. Don’t forget about portion control – just like us, dogs shouldn’t have more than one piece of doggy cake!
