Tiernan

Thank you for allowing us to keep Tiernan alive and healthy as long as was physically possible.

On February 13, 2008 my Tiernan was born. He had a rough start in life, was malnourished and diagnosed with Demodex but he was mine and we loved his bald little head! Since his first vet visit was so negative, we decided to sign him up with Petsecure. Two days later, we submitted his first claim as he managed to puncture his paw in the bars of his crate. This was only the beginning…

The following year, we took Tiernan to the vet at least once a week for a total of 67 times with an average cost of just $150 each time. Tiernan had claims totalling over $10,000 for eye problems, ear problems, allergies, gastrointestinal problems, dog attacks, complications from neuter, lameness, and respiratory problems.

On December 26, 2011, Tiernan wasn’t feeling well so we took him into CARE Centre. He had gastroenteritis. Since he was dehydrated, they wanted to keep him on IV overnight. During that time the unthinkable happened. He was diagnosed with aspiration pneumonia. Because of his Petsecure coverage, we could consent to every treatment the doctors recommended including oxygen, antibiotics, dextrose, urinary catheter, central line, nasal line, and even a blood transfusion. The pneumonia spread so fast and before long he became septic and started to show signs of heart and liver failure. There was nothing more we could do and had to make the difficult choice to send him over the Rainbow Bridge.

Petsecure allowed Tiernan every fighting chance to recover. The ability to give him every possible treatment without regard for cost was comforting despite the inner turmoil we were feeling. Thank you for allowing us to keep Tiernan alive and healthy as long as was physically possible.
