Humphrey

"I was told Petsecure would cover all the vet bills, as they hadn't cancelled my insurance, after all!"
Debbie Molot, Dundas, ON

In March, our Great Dane, Sir Humphrey, was limping badly. We rushed him to the vet and discovered his right knee needed to be rebuilt.

We were sent to Oakville for surgery and learned it would cost $8,000. I was so distraught because a month before this, I had cancelled my pet insurance thinking I didn't need it. I ignored the phone call reminders and made the decision to cancel. Now, everything would have to come out of my pocket.

Ten days after the surgery, his left knee gave out. He was now using his surgery leg to carry his weight and it was getting infected. After more medication, his infection healed, though soon after, we were presented with another nightmare. Humphrey was rushed to the hospital when we discovered him lying outside with a bloated belly. He was in shock and dying from bloat. We rushed him back to Oakville to have emergency surgery.

After five hours of surgery, Humphrey was alive and well. Myself, I was now up to $17,000 in vet bills, all within one month and no pet insurance. I was devastated. I had his second knee surgery to book that would bring my vet bills over $25,000, in one year.

Thankfully, with the help of the Dundas Animal Hospital staff, I was told Petsecure would cover all the vet bills, as they hadn't cancelled my insurance, after all!

From this whole ordeal, I learned the immense value of pet insurance and for this I am extremely grateful for Petsecure pet insurance, for helping to take care of us and Sir Humphrey!
