Bruiser

At three and a half years old, Bruiser, our French bulldog, ruptured two discs in his spine and had to have emergency spinal surgery. As he was our first baby and best friend to our one year old daughter, we were praying and hoping for a miracle in his recovery. He pulled through the surgery and after charming the pants off everyone at the Ontario Veterinary College; Bruiser came home with stitches and reduced mobility, though he still had his classic lovable attitude!

Thanks to Petsecure pet insurance, we were able to authorize the surgery without any thought to our bank account, even though I was still on maternity leave and we were on a significantly reduced income.

Sadly, Bruiser re-injured himself, far worse, only two months after his initial surgery. We were unable to save him, and had to say goodbye to our beautiful boy.

Although we only had four years with him, Bruiser was a ray of sunshine in our lives. He was funny, sweet, affectionate and charming. He had a special relationship with our infant daughter - protecting her, kissing her and being amazingly calm, despite her exuberant affection. He touched the hearts of everyone who ever met him - the staff at his vet clinic, the staff at the Ontario Veterinary College, the doggie daycare, our family and friends.

I am so thankful for Petsecure pet insurance because we managed to have two more wonderful months with our first baby. We'll never forget that!
