08/09/08 - Walk Your Dog on RDOG Day
As an advocate of responsible pet ownership, Petsecure pet health insurance is proud to support the first national RDOG DAY on Saturday, September 27, 2008.
That's the day when dog owners and their dogs are invited to go Walkin' with RDOG's in towns and cities throughout Canada.
RDOG DAY is a national initiative of the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC). Responsible Dog Ownership Groups (RDOGs), individual dog owners and their dogs will take to the streets to support responsible dog owners and the benefits that they bring to their communities.
The CKC already endorses pet insurance through its program with Petsecure. Breeders registered with the CKC can enroll their puppies for a 6 week trial of Petsecure pet insurance to give added peace of mind to the new puppy owners.
"Because Petsecure and the CKC both advocate responsible pet ownership, it's a natural fit for Petsecure to support RDOG DAY,"says Randy Valpy, President and Chief Operating Officer of Petsecure pet health insurance. "It showcases exercise, socializing and attention-some of the important requirements for responsible pet ownership. Walkin' with RDOG's is a fitting way to conclude September as National Pet Health Insurance Month."
Want to go Walkin' with RDog's in your community?
Visit the CKC website or view the flyer for more details.
10 Requirements of Responsible Pet Ownership
1. Commitment to keep your pet under your care for your pet's entire lifetime.
Accidents and illness can happen anytime during your pet's life. That's why our coverage limits renew for the entire life of your pet with our Secure For Life Guarantee™.
2. Financial resources to attend to your pet's health and veterinary care.
With pet insurance, pet parents are able to make health care decisions based on best course or treatment rather than finances.
3. Healthy diet and amount of exercise appropriate for your pet.
With annual wellness check ups, veterinarians can keep track of your pet's weight and suggest appropriate pet food if necessary.
4. A large enough living space for your animal. Different pets have different needs. Be sure your pet is right for your space.
5. Time to give your pet proper attention and affection.
Petsecure's innovative pet insurance was designed around the basic belief that the health and happiness of your pet is intimately linked with your own. The best pet parents know that pets return your love and affection unconditionally.
6. A pet friendly environment with harmful toxins beyond reach.
Household cleaners, antifreeze and even some houseplants are toxic to your pets. Be sure to pet proof your home to keep your furry friend safe.
7. An outdoor space for pets that need one.
Although many people think that pet accidents occur mostly outdoors, illnesses can happen whether your pet is inside or out. Pet insurance from Petsecure covers up to 80% for accidents and illness.
8. Compliance with municipal laws, such as leash laws.
These laws were designed to keep your pet safe, much like pet insurance.
9. Training and socializing your pet.
In addition to comprehensive protection, Petsecure it part of a community that shares common beliefs and commitment to being responsible pet parents. All four Petsecure pet insurance policies include coverage for behavioral therapies.
10. Identification on the pet such as microchips, collars and tattoos.
If your pet does get lost, Petsecure offers lost pet advertising as a member benefit with our pet insurance policies.
10/03/08 - September is Pet Health Insurance Month
(WINNIPEG, Manitoba, August 27, 2008) This September marks Canada's third annual National Pet Health Insurance Month. Petsecure pet health insurance has teamed up with others in the industry to sponsor a nationwide contest and educate pet owners about the benefits of pet health insurance.
Pet health insurance has been soaring in popularity in recent years. "The industry as a whole and our company is growing at approximately 25% a year,"says Randy Valpy, President and Chief Operating Officer of Petsecure pet health insurance.
A study by the American Animal Hospital Association reported that 73% of pet owners would go into debt to provide for their pet's well being. "Because pet health insurance helps pay veterinary fees for unexpected accidents and illnesses, more people are able to make health care decisions based on best course or treatment rather than finances. More pets-especially as they age-are able to access necessary veterinary care".says Valpy.
To celebrate Pet Health Insurance Month, pet owners can enter a special contest at select veterinary practices and on www.petsecure.com. One lucky winner will take home the Grand Prize valued at over $3,000 which includes a one year Petsecure Secure 3 policy, a 42" Sony Plasma television, a one year supply of pet food courtesy of Purina™, an 8GB Apple iPod Nano courtesy of London Drugs, a one year subscription to both Dogs in Canada and Modern Dog magazines, and a Labrador Retriever Message Centre courtesy of Ducks Unlimited.

10/03/08 - Petsecure gives you confidence, it is for all the reasons you can imagine
Petsecure is for all the reasons you can imagine, but more importantly, for all the reasons you can't.
Some Things Are Simply Out of Your Hands. When you first brought home your new dog or cat, you likely imagined all the joy, the fun and the companionship that furry bundle would bring to your family. Very few of us stop and think about the likelihood of our pet coming down with common illnesses or medical problems associated with their breed, or make allowances for the accidents that inevitably pop up in every pet's life. But that's why there's pet health insurance.
Pet insurance is the best way to have a plan in place, and peace of mind in the event of any accident, illness or expense associated with preventive care. Things like routine heartworm checks, medication for ear infections, fights with other pets and even household mishaps such as swallowing toxins like chocolate, or other 'foreign' objects are covered. So are pricey diagnostics like x-rays, dental care, surgery, emergency hospitalization, and prescriptions too.
Benefits:
- Enables you to provide the best possible care for your pet; especially when the unexpected occurs.
- Provides for responsible pet ownership; much the same as providing plenty of love and attention, good nutrition, proper exercise and a safe environment.
- Helps you budget and control the cost of care, by keeping you aware of monthly costs and ensuring you won't be caught unprepared in the event of an emergency.
- Provides you (and your pet) with greater access to life-saving treatments. Crucial decisions are easier to make.
- Gives peace of mind, knowing that pets are covered before they develop health problems, illness or conditions normally associated with their breed or age.
Best of all, getting started with us is as easy as 1-2-3!

Not all pet insurance is the same, but most products provide for the following worthwhile benefits:
