Petsecure Protects Guelph Police Service Dogs with Veterinary Coverage

by Petsecure Pet Health Insurance | Sep 20, 2012

WINNIPEG – September 19, 2012 – Guelph’s canine unit doesn’t have to worry about incurring an unmanageable vet bill thanks to Petsecure pet health insurance. Petsecure has entered into a long-term partnership with Guelph Police Service to provide pet health insurance for its three police service dogs, General, Nitro and Charger.

As a donation to the Guelph community, Petsecure is pleased to provide the canine unit with complimentary coverage for the first year of the partnership. Pet health insurance helps reduce the risks and costs associated with the canine unit.

“These dogs literally save lives,” said Bill Skubovius, Vice President of Business Development at Petsecure. “And we want to do all we can to keep them healthy and at peak performance. We hope they don’t suffer any injuries or illnesses, but if they do need to go to the vet, no one will have to think twice about providing them with the best veterinary care because Petsecure will be there to provide peace of mind.”

Comprehensive health care coverage

The three German shepherd service dogs are covered under Petsecure’s Secure 4 plan. It includes unlimited coverage for accidents and illnesses along with dental, and alternative and behavioural therapy.

“Police Service Dogs play an integral role in police operations while enhancing community safety,” said Bryan Larkin, Chief of Police with the Guelph Police Service. “They provide keen abilities to assist with searching, tracking and detection while promoting positive community relations. Police canines are a significant investment and it is important to ensure their long-term health. Our partnership with Petsecure ensures Nitro, Charger and General receive the best quality health care for a long, healthy and happy policing career.”
